Gothic Dom Tower and Church, Utrecht, Netherlands #46815408
Description
The gothic Dom Church was built as a cathedral for the bishop of Utrecht and dedicated to St. Maarten. The Domtoren or Cathedral Tower, built between 1321 and 1382 in Gothic-style, is the tallest church tower in the Netherlands and symbol of the city of Utrecht. The cathedral was never fully completed due to lack of money. Since the unfinished nave collapsed in 1674 the Dom tower became a free standing tower.
