Neil Kinnock answers questions at a press conference in Jerusalem, Israel, in February, 1988, during the first Intifada, a period of internal strife in the Jewish state with acts of sometimes violent unrest among the Arab population of Gaza and the West Bank against Israeli occupation. He claimed the Israeli response was occasionally overly harsh as he dramatically holds up a bullet he says was fired at demonstrating Palestinians by Israeli security forces as they were retreating. Kinnock, a longtime Labour MP was leader of the opposition for nearly a decade.
