The monument to the Discoveries, or Padrão dos Descobrimentos in Portuguese, located in Lisbon on the banks of the Tagus River in front of the Monastery dos Jerónimos, was built in 1960, five hundred years after the death of Enrico the Navigator, to celebrate the era of discoveries realized by Portuguese navigators between the XV and XVI century.
