The `Maison du Cygne`, mentioned in the fifteenth century, was originally an inn. Karl Marx, who lived in Brussels from February 1845 to March 1848, celebrated the New Year`s Eve of 1847/1848 in the `Maison du Cygne` with the Deutscher Arbeiterverein and the `Democratic Association`.
