Dutch windmill #101263600
Description
A few years ago we were in Alkmaar. Who think of Alkmaar, think Molen van Piet and of course cheese. Strongly and vigorously, the monumental mill sets out above the surrounding city-building. This is where everyone knows the Netherlands, of course, the windmills. In the Limburg Heuvelland where I live, you mostly encounter watermills. Piet`s Mill is a typical city mill, beautifully situated on the Alkmaar Singel, where you enter the city from Kennemerstraatweg. With its majestic revolving wings, the mill attracts all the attention, not only from Alkmaar`s own but also from the tourists who do Alkmaar. The mill was built in 1769 and then served as a grain mill. Since 1993, the witches only run `for the prince`. The North Holland city of Alkmaar has two other mills, but I undoubtedly find it the most beautiful of the couple.
