Pictured is a fresco showing Saints Paul and Peter the Apostles in the ancient cave church, La Chiesa di San Lorenzo, in the Parco Rupestre Lama D`Antico. The rupestrian settlement of Lama dââ¬â¢Antico is regarded as one of the oldest of the Puglia Region. It was already inhabited in the 10th century AD. Saint Paul was born in 5 AD and thought to have been martyred in 67 AD in Rome. He as also known as Saul of Tarsus, and the Apostle of the Gentiles. Of 27 books in the New Testament, 14 are attributed to Saint Paul. Saint Peter was born in 1 AD and thought to have been martyred in 64 AD in Rome, crucified by Nero. He was the first of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ, and Roman`s viewed him as the first pope.
