The Netherlands, Province Limburg, City and provincial capital Maastricht: In the inner city, city center, historical center is the oldest still existing Dutch city gate, the Helpoort, built in the thirteenth century [1229]. Until the 18th century the gate was called Alde Poort on the Ancker. View from the outside of the city wall. Today, the historic building is the home of the Maastricht fortified city foundation and can be visited by tourists and interested persons. There is an exhibition in the summer of the history of Maastricht as a fortified city. This gate tower is a landmark, cultural heritage, national monument and tourist attraction. Through the arch gate, is walking a group of people, tourists, holiday makers, that enjoy this cultural monument and listen to the information of the travel guide.
