Description
This is a Fall picture of the ruins of the Temple of Poseidon perched high above Cape Sounion, Greece. This was a venue used by Mariners to seek favors from Poseidon the god of the seas by making animal sacrifices or leaving gifts. The Temple is a typical hexastyle in design featuring Columns of the Doric Order, fifteen of the thirty-four original columns still stand. The Temple was constructed 444 to 440 BC. This picture was taken on October 20, 2017.
