Description
The Revolutionary War battle at Monmouth was fought on June 28, 1778 in extremely hot weather. Late in the afternoon, Continental Army General Nathaniel Greene set up a battery of four cannon at this position on Combs Hill. The American guns raked the British position on the right e of this field causing the British artillery to withdraw and their infantry to shift position.
