Plate displayed at the Gate of the Marathon of the Olympic Stadium in Stockholm in memory of the Portuguese athlete Francisco Lazaro, who died during the Marathon race at the 1912 Games. The message in the plate is writen in Suedish and Portuguese languages, remembering de young athlete who died on the age of 23 on July 14th of 1912 in result of an insolation. This incident has prompted the International Olympic Committee to change the start of the marathon race to hours of daytime when the sun is not strong. In 1912 the Marathon began in the early afternoon under a temperature of 32 degrees celsius.
