Early Morning In Running Springs After The Rain Editorial Image

This is an early morning view looking east, up Highway 18 out of the small town community of Running Springs, a familiar site to the early birds on their way up to the ski resorts of the Running Springs, Big Bear Lake, California area. There was an overnight rain and the light of the sky is reflecting off the wet pavement making the mood dramatic. Not much is happening this early winter morning. If there were snow in this early winter day, the scene would be much different. During holidays and ski season the main street through the village and this last intersection can often be clogged, bumper to bumper for hours with sightseers and tourists heading up for recreation in the San Bernardino Mountains of California. The area is very popular with people from Los Angeles and Orange counties of Southern California who want to come up to enjoy a day in the mountains. The early morning is one of my favorite times before the traffic really gets started.
