The Piazza del Popolo is one of the best known places in Rome, especially for foreigners. Located north of the city, near the Borghese Park. In Spanish its name means the Town Square, although historically the name comes from the Latin populus, name taken by the Basilica of Santa Maria del Popolo and which was baptized in 1655 by Pope Alexander II.
