The Cathedral Notre-Dame de Paris, in shape short Notre-Dame, is the cathedral of the archdiocese of Paris, in France. She it is situated in the east of the island of the City Estate, in 4 District of Paris. The cathedral is since the origin one of the most symbolic monuments of Paris.His construction begun at the instigation of bishop Maurice of Sully, extends over more than two centuries, 1163 in the middle of the XIVth century. Thus the style is not of a total uniformity: the cathedral so possesses characters of the primitive Gothic vaults sexpartites of the nave and of the radiant Gothic. Both rosettes which decorate each of the arms of the transept are among the biggest of Europe, and measure each thirteen meters diameter. After the revolutionary storm, the cathedral benefits from 1844 till 1864 of an important and sometimes debated restoration, supervised by the architect Viollet-le-Duc, which incorporates it elements and unpublished motives.
