Title
A Greenland shark Somniosus microcephalus by-caught by a bottom trawler in North Atlantic waters #109196984
Description
Bottom trawling is one of the fishing methods with the highest impact on marine ecosystems. It has a very low selectivity, i,e. it catches a variety of species other than the ones it is aimed for. Some of them are highly vulnerable, such as this Greenland shark Somniosus-microcephalus caught in North Atlantic waters, near Newfoundland. Bottom trawling also impacts on the seabed habitats.
