Café restaurant corner Pugliese tango corner in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Boedo Buenos Aires Argentina Also called Café Recuerdo, this informal environment has a small stage where tango shows take place. The place has two names. By day it is Remembrance, a drowsy coffee still frequented by old tangueros. At night it was consolidated as La Esquina de Osvaldo Pugliese. For many years the pianist and composer Osvaldo Pugliese went with his wife Lidia Elma -Beba- to the corner of Av. Boedo and Carlos Calvo. The walks that began at his home on Av. Corrientes ended there. They used to frequent the tables of the vanished Alabama coffee. When this place was destroyed by a fire, its owners rebuilt it and called it `Recuerdo` in honor of their first piece of music, for the appreciation they had for him. Today that corner bears his name.
