Pictured is a plaque honoring John G. Wiegenstein MD, the founding father of Emergency Medicine. It is located in the national headquarters of the American College of Emergency Physicians ACEP in Dallas, Texas. ACEP was founded in 1968 and In 1979 emergency medicine was recognized as the 23rd medical specialty, a major milestone for ACEP and its members. Today, ACEP represents more than 33,000 emergency physicians, emergency medicine residents and medical students. Groundbreaking on the 60,000 square foot building was done April 16, 2015.
