The old Parliament building is an important historical landmark in Singapore, with government buildings throughout much of its nearly 200 – year history. Since 2004, there is an art House, which hosts a variety of temporary exhibitions, biennales, festivals and concerts. At the entrance to the building there is a bronze sculpture of an elephant, which in 1871 was presented to Singapore by king Siam modern Thailand in honor of his visit to the city.
