Title
Asbyrgi Canyon is one of the few woods in Iceland #110515814
Description
Its formation is due to floods occurred in the post-glacial era and caused by a partial dissolution of the Vatnajökull glacier. Legends and folk traditions tell us that its horseshoe shape is due to a huge footprint left by one of Sleipnir`s eight hooves Odin`s horse and that, when the Icelandic people betrayed the ancient gods and threw their simulacra in the Godafoss waterfall, these did not abandon Iceland, but took refuge in Asbyrgi, continuing to watch over the country.
