Steffen glacier in Campo de Hielo Sur Southern Patagonian Ice Field, Chilean Patagonia #112067001
Description
The Steffen glacier close to the village of Caleta Tortel in Southern Chile is one of many glaciers encompassed by the Campo de Hielo Sur Southern Patagonian Ice Field. The campo de Hielo Sur is the world`s second largest contiguous ice field outside the polar regions. It is shared by Chile and Argentina. The world-famous Perito Moreno glacier is also part of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, in this case on its Argentinean side. Both countries maintain a dispute over the exact delimitation of the border across the Campo de Hielo Sur.
