Title
San Francisco Fire Department`s oldest surviving building, 2. #112417342
Description
Built in 1893 and now a designated landmark, this wood frame Victorian building is the San Francisco Fire Department`s oldest surviving building still in their property. Of the two others from the same time, one is now a private residence and the other is since demolished. Despite the sign claiming this to be the home of `Engine 27`, it actually was `Engine 21`, along with `Truck Company 6`. During the earthquake and fire of 1906, the crew from this house remained on duty for 54 continuous hours. As the building is no longer up to code, it is now mainly used for storage.
