Description
The Brewer`s Blackbird has nothing to do with the making of coffee or beer, but is named for Thomas Mayo Brewer, the ornithologist. The male, like the one in the very foreground, have the very deep, shiny black feathers while the female, further back, are a lighter black. Most common along the west coast of the United States, but has been expanding east, and near water, as here on the San Francisco Bay.
