The Peoples Temple of The Disciples of Christ, known simply as The Peoples Temple, was a new religious movement, founded in 1955 in Indianapolis, Indiana, by Jim Jones. His message was of racial equality, combined elements of Communism and Socialism along with Christianity. The movement came to a fatal end in 1978, in the forests of Guyana with nearly a thousand dead in a mass suicide/murder. Their San Francisco building was eventually distroyed in the Loma Prieta quake of 1989 and completely replaced by this Post Office building.
