Description
The Latrobe reading room is in the Dome in the State Library, Melbourne. The library was built in 1854 making it Australias oldest public library and one of the first free library in the world. The Dome was built in 1913 and was designed by Norman G Peebles. The Dome is octagonal and was designed to hold a million books. It is 34.74 m in diameter and height. The Oculus is 5km wide and was the largest in the world on completion
