Description
Taking the title from a Charlie Chaplin film, City Lights was originally just a literary magazine title, by Peter D. Martin in 1952. One of the people he had published was Lawrence Ferlinghetti. With in a year, Martin had the name on a bookstore, America`s first all paperback bookstore. In 1953, Ferlinghetti happened to meet Martin, and they go into the business of publishing and selling books together. Although Martin left a couple of years later, Ferlinghetti is still a part of City Lights, which is now a World Heritage Site.
