Description
The national flag of Cuba consists of five alternate stripes three blue and two white and an equilateral red triangle on the hoist, inside which is a white five-pointed star. After the United States took Cuba from Spain during the Spanish-American War, the stars and stripes flew from January 1, 1899 to May 20, 1902, when the Cuban national flag was hoisted as a symbol of independence and sovereignty.
