Pictured is a bronze statue entitled `Spirit of `61`, also known as `1st Regiment Infantry National Guard of Philadelphia`. It is by Henry Kirke Bush-Brown, American sculptor known for historically accurate realist sculptures illustrating American history. It is a Civil War commemorative sculpture showing a First Regiment soldier marching in full uniform, located on Broad Street in Philadelphia in front of the Union League. A successor to the Gray Reserves, which originated in 1822, the First Regiment was the first to be called to action following the attack on Fort Sumter in 1861.
