A dreamy rendition of two white swans swimming gracefully into reflected sunlight on a small forest stream – June 2006 This lazy, hazy sun-sparkled forest stream is a perfect setting for these two white swans as they glide into the misty morning sunlight. At first glance this composition seems peaceful enough, but then becomes surprisingly pensive. Our eye is drawn unnaturally from the bottom right to the top left and abruptly stops at the strong light source. This creates a subtle contrast with the otherwise serene setting of the subject matter, and we feel a quiet tension beneath the calm surface.
