Description
Ialomita Monastery was built in sec. XVI at the entrance Ialomita Cave, being founded by Prince Mihnea the Evil Romanian Country. In about 200 m deep cave is a stone called Altar Stone where according to tradition sin the holy hermitages. Burn hermitage in 1818, being rebuilt in a year by Gheorghe Ion Baltag priest and monk of Pietrosita Gerontius. On April 20, 1961 will be consumed by fire again, not being rebuilt. The current monastery was built in 1901. The church was consecrated in 1911 by Abbot Dionysius of Sinaia Monastery, with the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Athanasios. The church was destroyed by fire in 1961 but the care Patriarch Justinian was restored.
