A latte is a coffee drink made with espresso and steamed milk. The term as used in English is a shortened form of the Italian caffè latte, caffelatte or caffellatte, which means & x22;milk coffee& x22; . The top third of the drink consists of milk foam; this foam can be decorated with artistic drawings made with the same milk, called latte art. Matcha is finely ground powder of specially grown and processed green tea leaves. The traditional Japanese tea ceremony centers on the preparation, serving, and drinking of matcha as hot tea and embodies a meditative spiritual style. In modern times, matcha also has come to be used to flavor and dye foods such as mochi and soba noodles, green tea ice cream, matcha lattes, and a variety of Japanese wagashi confectionery.
