Description
This is a Spring picture of the Pergola or colonnade of the Palace of Fine Arts in the Marina neighborhood of San Francisco, California. The structure was designed by The architects William Gladstone Merchant and Bernard Maybeck, the statues at the ends of the pergola were the work of Ulric Ellerhusen, the upper one looking into the boxes are known was the ââ¬Åweepersââ¬Â contrasting with the lower statues, it is an example of Beaux-Arts architecture, it was built in 1915 for the Panama-Pacific Exposition, it was not constructed as a permanent structure, it was completely rebuilt in 1965. This iconic structure was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 5, 2005. This picture was taken on April 19, 2018.
