The Colchester Castle Museum is a Norman Keep built on top of a Roman Temple with a Anglo-Saxon moat in Colchester, UK #115377154
Description
Colchester is famous for being the central town used by the Romans to stage their attack on Celtic Britain starting in 54 BC. They named it Camelodunum. Later, William the Conquerer built one of his first fortresses on top of the Roman Temple to the Emperor Claudius that had already been covered by an earlier Saxon fortress. Today, The Colchester Castle Museum tells the story of these repeated conquests.
