Tulips are bulbous perennial ephemeroids. Coating scales of bulbs,nhaving a different texture, can be covered from the inside. A few leaves are fleshy, decreasing in size from the bottom to the top. Flowers are usually single; in rare cases, two to twelve flowers are observed. Leaflets of the perianth do not fuse together. Nectaries are absent. Stamen filaments extending to the base may be pubescent. The anthers are attached to the stamens by the base and open inside the flower. Ovary upper, column of pistil is very short or absent. Stigma three-bladed. Fruit is a spherical or elongated box containing numerous flat seeds
