Description
Arromanches Les Bains in Low Normandy, France. The main landing beach for the British troops during the invasion of Normandy starting early on June 6, 1944. Now a much appreciated vacation and tourist spot. There are still remains of the Mulberry artificial harbour, that was used by the allied forces during the invasion. These remains can be seen in the water in the background of the image. The nearest french town is Bayeux some 10 kilometers inland from Arromanches.
