Description
The Vodovzvodnaya or Sviblova Tower of the Moscow Kremlin was erected in 1488 by the Italian architect Anton Fryazin Antonio Gilardi, the name Sviblova Tower comes from the boyar surname Sviblova, the courtyard of which adjoined the tower from the side of the Kremlin. The name Vodovzvodnaya, the tower, was received in 1633 after the installation of a water-lifting machine made under the direction of Christopher Galovey, to supply water from the Moscow River to the Kremlin. This was the first water pipe in Moscow.
