Kezar Stadium, renamed Bob St. Clair, 1. #117534566
Description

When it was first proposed in 1920 that San Francisco needed its own athletic stadium, Mary Kezar personally donated $100,000 to honor her mother and uncles, local pioneers. After the city added an additional $200,000, the stadium was quickly built, and opened 2 May, 1925. The stadium was well used by teams and sports, including the San Francisco 49ers football team. After the 49ers left for the bigger and more modern Candle Stick Park, Kezar started having live concert performances. In June 1989, Kezar was demolished and rebuilt, much smaller. The new stadium is named in honor of former 49er Bob St. Clair who had also gone to the Polytechnic High School that was just across the street, and now also demolished.
