Magma detail from Penedo do Lexim, Mafra, Portugal. #118453093
Description
Detail from the volcanic complex of Penedo do Lexim, nearby Mafra and Sintra. This is part of the Lisbon volcanic complex, a part of the second pulse of alkaline magmatic activity of the Upper Cretaceous. This chimney is exceptionally well preserved and occupies a prominent position in the relief of the region. The existence of a cut derived from old extractive activities created excellent conditions for the observation of the prismatic disjunction that characterizes this chimney.
