In the background there is the old Volga bridge in Tver, which is one of the `visit cards` of the city. It is unlike other bridges in the city and, indeed, many of the Volga bridges. It is distinguished by a special elegance. The shape of the old Volga bridge in Tver is reminiscent of the Liberty bridge former Franz Josef across the Danube in Budapest, built in 1894-1896. Old Volga bridge was the first permanent bridge across the Volga river in Tver. It was built in 1897-1900 by the Czech engineer L. Mashec.The bridge is cultural heritage site of federal importance.
