The remains of West Fort Miley beautified under graffiti, 20. #118753647
Description
By 1885 it was apparent the new West Coast of the United States needed fortification. It took the Spanish-American War of 1898 for the needs to be realized, with construction finally beginning in 1899. By 1937 the Army knew it needed to modernize the defenses, but once Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, there was no more time left to loose, and completed by 1944. Now abandoned, it has become a playground.
