Description
Initially a grocery store going back to 1886, then a private family home which was lost to a fire in 1918. Julius Roz acquired the land by 1924. Buying wood from the then demolished 1915 Pan Pacific Exposition, Julius worked with a local architect to build a castle like structure for his restaurant, that was very popular for more then 80 years. Although the city has given approval to reopen the restaurant sitting near the foot of Telegraph Hill, th area is much more developed now and the new, local residents raised their own concerns about parking and and smoke from waiting and leaving patrons.
