Description
On a small island in the eastern sea of the Bohai Sea, Putuo Xiao, according to legend, when Guanyin opened up a Dali dam, he left a Zhenhai seal on the sea here, that is, a small island, to protect the fishermen, so, The fishermen built Guanyin Pavilion on the island to commemorate Guanyin, and named a fishing village in the east of the island Haiyin Village. The island was called Xiaoputuo Mountain, and Guanyin Pavilion was changed to Xiaopu, which means Guanyin practice. Erhai little putuo can be said to be `pocket island.` Putuo has a circumference of only 200 meters and is composed of limestone. Its shape is very much like a round seal, so it is also called a sea seal. Legend has it that there are many dragons in the Bohai Sea, often setting off fierce winds and waves. This reef is the seal used by Guanyin Bodhisattva to hold the dragon. It was probably during the Chongzhen period of the Ming Dynasty that the nearby fishermen funded the construction of a two-story pavilion on the island to worship the statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva. Therefore, the people called it Guanyin Pavilion. The best time to visit Little Putuo is in the early morning.
