In 1706, the first & x22;Apothecary garden& x22; was located in Moscow on the First Meshchanskaya, now it is the Botanical garden of Moscow state University. Peter I himself personally planted in the new garden three coniferous trees ââ¬â spruce, fir and larch - & x22;to teach the citizens in their difference.& x22; Larch is still alive, though its tip was badly damaged by lightning, and therefore larch has ceased to grow.
