Westbury White Horse Hill in Wiltshire, southern England #120366533
Description
This famous horse hill figure was carved possibly before 1742, then regenerated later that century. It lies on the south facing slope of Bratton Down, 738 feet above sea level. It is next to an Iron Age fort with earthworks. Attempts have been made to connect it to battles fought by King Alfred, but there are no documents which link him to this site.nParglider enthusiasts often use this hill as the wind from the southwest comes up the steep slope and lifts their canopies.
