St. Mark`s Lighthouse just south of Tallahassee #120928782
Description
Saint Marks Lighthouse is one of the oldest lighthouses in the state. It was built in its present location in the 1840`s and was used as a lookout against the Northern Blockade. In response, the North sent a number of military attacks to limit its usefulness to the Confederates. It was also the site of an attack into Florida that was quickly repulsed by Confederate troops. After the war, it once again was used as a navigation aid.
