Description
Bryophyta is a department of higher plants, numbering about 10 000 species, united in about 700 genera and 110-120 families [1] & x28;the total number of all bryophytes, including Liver mosses and Anthocerot mosses, is about 20,000 species [2]& x29;. As a rule, these are small plants, the length of which only rarely exceeds 50 mm; The exception is water mosses, some of which are more than half a meter long, and epiphytes, which may be even longer. Bryophytes, like other Bryophytes, differ from other higher plants in that in their life cycle the haploid gametophyte predominates over the diploid sporophyte.
