Description
The little villages of Sankar, Changspa, Khakshal and Gompa, near Leh the capital of Ladakh (Indian Himalayas) in early spring. Ladakh is a high altitude desert where agriculture is only possible with irrigation. In April the barren feilds are irrigated for the first tim and the manure is being carted onto the fields and the barley is sown. Shortly afterwards the first feeble green of the young barley plats is emerging and the poplars and willows are slowly turning bronze, then green. At the same time the Ladakh Range, separating Ladakh from ther Nubra Valley is still covered in deep snow
