Mafalda and Susanita in San Telmo Mafalda dear characters of Quino in San Telmo. Mafalda was created in 1964. Reflective and critical. Representative of the intellectual middle class of the `60s and `70s, she shows concern for humanity and world peace, and rebels against the world bequeathed by her elders. It is one of the most well-known and installed cartoons in the Argentine collective imagination. Reading Mafalda is to understand Argentina, although the concerns expressed by her and her friends are of a universal nature. Quino achieved in this cartoon to give the characters very deep and representative identities of a social class and a very marked moment of the country.
