Downtown Tampa Electric Streetcar Lines in Historic District #123671598
Description
The first electric streetcar lines in Tampa were built in 1892. They became a very essential part of the everyday lives of the workers who took the trolley car transportation to their jobs in the cigar factories of west Tampa and to downtown areas. It was most popular in the 1920s. Unfortunately, the streetcar system came to a complete stop in 1946 after World War II.nnWith the continued growth of Tampa, the streetcars are back servicing the downtown area, Channelside and Ybor City. It is a big support to Tampa`s very active cruise industry, too.
