The picture was taken on the South Coast of South Africa. I was on my way to Witsand when I came across these. ostriches. This was a large herd of predominantly female ostriches. They were all about six months old. One can fairly accurately guess their age in terms of their height and the development of their feathers. There was one female that looked a bit different from the rest and I concentrated on her for a shot. You can see in the image that she has more black feathers on the face. Getting close is not the problem as they are very curious birds. The problem is that they will peck at the camera to see if itââ¬â¢s edible. The result is a whole lot of ostrich faces in the background with one distinctively different looking face up front.
