This is the landmark of Marudi, a tiny and quiet town in the Baram district. It is featuring Orang Ulu in war canoe. It is about 2 hours off-road drive from Miri City Resort. Marudi was previously known as Claudetown during the Brooke administration era, in 1884. This landmark is depicting the Orang Ulu boatmen in a war canoe. Marudi in the 80`s used to be populated by the Orang Ulu to the extend that the local Chinese too speak the orang ulu language. Today, Marudi is just a sleepy town.
