John McLaren Statue and Golden Gate park. #125571034
Description
John McLaren is best remembered as the founding superintendent of Golden Gate Park. He very much enjoyed his park and wanted everyone else to, also. Playing on the grass was encouraged. The one thing he most did not want, is statuary, distracting from his beloved nature. And that goes equally for statues of himself. So when one was erected of him, he did his best to hide it, and it was not found until after his death.
